Commitment to quality, reflection, and continuous improvement

HWIS is a candidate school with the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC).

 

What is WASC?

 

ACS WASC is an international accrediting body that evaluates schools on learning, well-being, and continuous improvement. Accreditation assures families that Hong Wen International School is committed to rigorous standards and ongoing growth.

 

Our 2025–2026 Self-Study Journey

 
2025: Build our School Profile, collect evidence, and conduct stakeholder surveys for students, parents, and staff.
2025–2026: Draft category narratives across all self-study areas, including Organization, Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, Student Support & Culture, Resources/Operations, and Boarding, and develop Schoolwide Action Plan (SWAP) v1.
2026: Prepare for the pre-visit by finalizing uploads, conducting staff and parent briefings, and organizing a campus mock visit.
Visit: A Visiting Committee will observe classes, review evidence, and meet with students, parents, and staff.
Post-Visit: Adopt Schoolwide Action Plan (SWAP) v2 with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report progress regularly.

How Our Community Can Participate

 

Parent and Community Voice Engagement

  • Complete short surveys and share specific examples of strengths and needs.
  • Join parent or staff focus groups and contribute helpful feedback.
  • Volunteer supporting materials such as handbooks, rubrics, or sample student work when requested.

Shared Understanding Partnership

  • Read our ESLRs and learning outcomes.
  • Ask how these goals are reflected in school life and daily practice.
  • Follow updates through the public WASC timeline and monthly highlights.

Why It Matters

 

Accreditation strengthens teaching and student support, aligns resources with learning goals, and supports the broader recognition of HWIS transcripts.
